Performs inspections of school facilities during "non-working days" (weekends and holidays) and reports any maintenance problems to a central dispatch. Duties are performed with minimal supervision.
This is light duty work that requires frequent walking and driving. May have to assist maintenance personnel for problems that are found. Must have good communication skills. Will also be responsible for opening and/or closing of school facilities for outside contractors or school activities.
Essential Functions
- Check of all doors and windows at various school facilities.
- Check of the interior at various school facilities for maintenance issues (i.e. water leaks, busted pipes, etc.)
- Check of school grounds at various locations for damages or safety issues.
- Open and/or close of school facilities as needed
- Respond to problems as needed
- Other duties to include working n RCPS dispatch office when needed.
Education and Experience
Any combination of education and experience equivalent to graduation from high school and some security experience.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
General knowledge of practices concerning the protection of school buildings and grounds; ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions; ability to recognize and identify situations which have or may become a problem or emergency requiring immediate attention; ability to think and act quickly, effectively and responsibly under emergency situations.
Special Requirements
Possession of an appropriate driver's license valid in the Commonwealth of Virginia.
The selected applicant for the position will be required to provide a current driving record.
