The McKinney-Vento Program is responsible for determining eligibility for students/families who are in living in temporary housing situations and ensures eligible students receive
educational and supportive services in which they are entitled.
Job Duties: The Family Outreach Specialist (FOS) will work closely with the program coordinator, Family Support Specialist and Program Outreach Specialist with implementing the best practices and strategies to provide services to support academic success, family advocacy, and social well-being for students/families residing in temporary housing.
This is a temporary, part-time position and continued employment past June 30, 2025 is
based upon grant funding received to operate the program. A typical work week will
average 10-15 hours dependent upon program needs. At certain times of the year, additional hours may be required, but not to exceed 29 hours per week. This position is not eligible for any benefits. The person holding this position will not be paid when schools are closed for inclement weather, holidays, or academic breaks.
The preferred candidate should possess a Bachelor of Science degree in a human services discipline (such as psychology, social work, or related fields) or be actively pursuing such a degree. Additionally, the candidate should have between five to seven years of professional experience working with youth and families in either a school environment or a human services agency. Fluency in both English and Spanish is mandatory, with no exceptions.
